Shiatsu session

Shiatsu is a method of restoring and maintaining health by adjusting and balancing the body’s primary communication system – the energy system.

Shiatsu affects the movement of energy known as “Qi” or “Chi”, which circulates through well-defined passageways called meridians.

Various degrees of pressure is applied along these meridians and other specific areas of the body to balance the energy as it flows to the organs, glands, muscles, nerves, blood, and throughout the whole body. Additional stretching techniques and structural release support Shiatsu to achieve harmony within this energy system.

I practice Zen Shiatsu founded by Shizuto Masunaga. It uses an extended version of the meridian system, which allows a certain efficiency. In addition to the TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) this method also uses the ancient theory of the five elements. The state of the whole person, body, mind and spirit, is taken into account when treating a person.
